The church provides liturgies or sacraments for important events in our lives.  These liturgies follow the practice of the Episcopal Church.

Baptism
Baptism is the welcoming of a person into the Christian faith through the outward signs of water and oil.  Inwardly Christ claims us as his own forever.  In the Episcopal tradition a person at any age can be baptized.  Infant baptism is encouraged because we believe that becoming a Christian is a life-long process and we are best formed in community.  Baptisms are done throughout the year for members.  Families wishing to have children baptized should join the church and then speak with the rector.

Eucharist or Holy Communion
Eucharist or Holy Communion is the main service of celebration on Sunday’s.  Each week we gather to hear God’s Word and then we break bread together following Jesus’ example.  Everyone is invited to the altar to receive communion or a blessing.

Marriage
Marriage is the union of two people and the commitment for a life-long relationship before God, family and friends.  In order to be married in the Episcopal Church a couple must go through pre-marital counseling with the rector, which is at least three months of preparation.  If one of the persons has been previously married permission must be given from the bishop for a second marriage.  To be married at St. Paul’s a couple must talk to the rector.

Funerals or Memorials
A Funeral or Memorial is the celebration of a person’s life in light of the Resurrection. Only members of St. Paul’s and their family may be buried in St. Paul’s cemetery.  Anyone can have a service in the church following the Episcopal liturgy which holds our sorrow as well as celebrates the person we mourn.
